So back in March while my boyfriend Ty was in boot camp I made an attempt at creating a blog. However it was a complete fail, and I kind of just forgot about it haha, but I think it's an awesome way to meet military s/o's, and record our journey through long distance together. SO guess we'll just start from here :) You'll probably find anything and everything related to a typical Marine girlfriend or military s/o on my blog. (I'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF YOU'RE ONE TOO! :)) So here we go.....
Ty graduated from Parris Island this summer, completed his MOS school and is now stationed out west for the next 2 years. I thank god everyday that he is not a grunt, he's an aircraft mechanic.. with a non-deployable training unit (another reason to thank god everyday).
This is the first time me and Ty have ever really spent any time apart. November 10th 2011, was our 5 year anniversary. We dated all through high school and he's always been 5 minutes away from me.. now he's more than 2,000 miles away. It's hard to believe sometimes. It's also hard to believe that I've only seen my boyfriend for 19 days since he left for boot this past February.
Having a Marine boyfriend has definitely been an adventure so far, but I've never been more proud of him in my life. He's a truly amazing man that has accomplished more in the past year, than most people do their entire life.
He didn't get to come home for Thanksgiving, which was actually really sad because his brother was home from Iraq (he's in the Air Force) and his family comes from all over the country to see each other. Last time I saw him was September when he was still in Florida. We tend to fight a lot over the little things when we miss each other a lot.. /: sooooo he bought me a plane ticket to come see him!
I'M SOOOO SO SO SOOOO EXCITED to see his face!!!!!!!! I leave Thursday the 8th, and will be back Sunday night :( short but totally worth it. I really can't wait to write all about it, so until then.... :)
My last picture I have from the last time we were together in September :)
Long distance is so hard... my husband wasn't in the military but we dated long distance for two years. It was hard, but would've been so much harder to not have had him in my life at all. And in the end, so worth it :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how hard it is to be so far away from your love for so long!! How sweet that he bought you tickets to go and see him!!! That's so wonderful and sweet!!
